  • Do you do blueprints or building plans?

    Yes! We manage this entire process and will work with you in many different ways to accomplish this goal. We are very good at this process, as we are design-build specialists. At Preston Building, a custom home builder will work to create a set of drawings for a custom project that you can afford to build within your budget.
  • We already have construction drawings, will Preston build on our property?

    Yes, Preston builds quality, custom homes in many different areas throughout our region. We do not build entire subdivisions, and we do not build "spec" homes. If you already have blueprints, we will work with you to make sure they are 100% complete and acceptable to obtain any required building permits to complete your new home construction project.
  • Will Preston oversee the site lot work for me?

    Yes! This is a normal part of our process, and there is no extra charge for this. Other builders may charge large fees to handle this for you, but with us, it's free. We feel it is imperative to be involved in everything related to your project and new home construction to make sure that everything comes together as you planned.
  • When does the actual construction start and how long will it take?

    In our experience, new home construction builds usually take nine to 12 months from the initial consult.
  • How long is the warranty on our new home and what does it cover?

    The warranty period is lengthy and begins from the date you move in. The warranty covers defective materials, products, and labor for your new home construction. All warranties from manufacturers belong to the owner and may vary in length. It is best to refer to your specific contract, as warranty specifications may change for each project.
  • We work full-time jobs, so how will we have the time to devote to building a custom home?

    At Preston Building, we are trained and experienced professionals who know how to manage the process from design through construction for a minimal impact on your work or personal schedule. Meetings with your custom home builder are scheduled at your convenience.
  • Is it possible to make changes after construction of my home has started?

    Sure! We understand that most traditional builders don't like to make changes, but that is not our way of handling our projects. You worked hard to get to this point, and you deserve to have what you want from your new home construction project.
  • Why build a custom home with Preston Building instead of buying a home from a national company that only advertises that it will build a custom home?

    This is all about the definition of "custom." There are a great deal of builders who "say" they build custom homes, but in reality, there are very few true custom home builder companies. We give our clients options from sources worldwide. Our clients can make any residential custom home they choose. The national builders only offer a few "options," and they offer only what is convenient for them, never giving their clients the chance to have anything outside of the options they offer. Quality service is another distinguishing factor: according to the National Association of Home Builders, a custom home building company often works on 10 or fewer projects per year to give each client sufficient attention.
